The brand with the green frog has been on the market since 1986 - an eco-pioneer from the very beginning. In the mid-1980s, the topic of environmental protection gained social significance and various environmental disasters made people more aware of the issue.
Organic quality since 1986 is the product promise. The brand acts according to the cradle-to-cradle principle: all product components should be kept in circulation. For example through plant-based and biodegradable formulation alternatives. For example, the surfactants (washing-active substances) we use are based on plant-based raw materials - preferably from European cultivation - such as rapeseed, sunflower or olive. The vegan products additionally do without harmful ingredients such as microplastics, phosphates or parabens.
However, the idea of circulation also plays an important role in the packaging. Therefore most of our bottles are made of 100% recycled material (old plastic) and are 100% recyclable.
Frog and environment
Organic quality since 1986 is not a buzzword for us. We actually live sustainability. Sustainability therefore plays a role not only in the recipe - but also in packaging and production. In the production of Frosch products, environmental and sustainability considerations have top priority throughout the entire value chain. Werner & Mertz has been environmentally validated since 2003 (EMAS III). This means that we have committed ourselves to proving every year that we have improved even further in terms of environmental protection and resource conservation.
Innovative plant-based recipes, the use of recycled packaging and recyclable packaging labels, adhesives and paints as well as the manufacture of the products and the associated transport routes - holistically sustainable is our motto.

Cleanliness and hygiene for children
Children love to play in the dirt, romp around in puddles or bake tasty sandwiches in the sandbox. Parents are less happy when their little ones are completely dirty, from top to bottom. But how dangerous is it for children to be exposed to dirt and grime while playing? In the past, it was always said that "a lot helps a lot", but is this really true? A certain degree of cleanliness must be natural, and excessive hygiene in the environment can make people ill.
Personal hygiene and hygiene for babies
While still in the hospital, your child will already receive the first care, namely the cleaning after the cutting of the cord. Either the paediatric nurse will show you on site how to properly care for the navel or your attending midwife. There are different ways of keeping the navel clean, so don't be unsettled if you get different advice. Usually the navel falls off within the first seven days after birth. If something is not right, contact your midwife or a paediatrician immediately.
What you should always bear in mind when caring for your baby.
An infant has, even if you might suspect it, not such a bad immune system, as it can still enjoy the so-called nest protection (protection of the child against pathogens by maternal antibodies) in the first three months through breastfeeding. During this time, your baby is still well protected from harmless colds. Of course, there are still a few things you should consider, especially in the first few months:
- only touch the baby with clean hands
- Treat skin injuries carefully
- Baby not near sick people
- Ventilate the apartment/house often, as bacteria accumulate in warm rooms
- regularly change the baby's bedding
Breastfeeding or bottle feeding, which hygiene should be observed?
The immune system of infants is not yet as strong as that of adults. They first have to get used to the germs, which means that pathogens can settle in them more quickly.
If you are breastfeeding your child, you should make sure that
- use a sterile pump set and a sterile milk container. The cleaning can be done either in the dishwasher, better is boiling the equipment and containers or the use of a sterilizer
- Wash your hands before pumping.
Use bottled milk, make sure that
- after each meal, rinse the bottle and teat hot, provided for this purpose: bottle brushes.
- Clean the grooves in the teat properly.
- Boil bottle and teat for five to ten minutes.
- Put the cleaned things on a clean cloth and cover them with one as well.
How often should the baby bathe?
Bathing every day is not necessary and would also damage the protective layer of the skin too much, so daily washing and bathing once or twice a week is sufficient. Regular checking of skin folds can prevent the formation of wounds.
Ears, nose, nails & teeth - how are they cared for?
Under no circumstances should a cotton swab be used to clean the ears of babies, as there is a risk that the swab could break off or injure the eardrum. An alternative is to clean the auricle with either a damp or oil-soaked cotton swab, otherwise the ears clean themselves. :)
Also, under no circumstances should such a stick get into baby's nose, there is a special nasal aspirator to free the nose. Otherwise, as with the ears, the nose cleans itself, e.g. by sneezing.
In the first four weeks after birth, you should not cut your baby's fingernails yet, and the toenails only after a few months.
Your baby's first tooth already needs to be brushed. You can start dental care with a moist cotton ball or a cloth. As soon as your child has three or four teeth, you can go and buy the first baby toothbrush. Make sure that no food remains stuck between the teeth.
How often should a baby be changed?
Many babies often have a sore bottom, which is sometimes due to the fact that baby skin is generally very thin and delicate. This makes it susceptible to bacteria and fungi, which especially like to settle and multiply in warm and humid regions. If possible, you can also let your baby kick naked, because fresh air prevents soreness and has a healing effect on a sore bottom. Certain foods also cause a sore bottom, so pay attention to what your baby has eaten. A first reaction should occur within the first 24 to 36 hours. And of course change the nappies after every bowel movement and otherwise every three to four hours.
