The NUK Nasal Aspirator - for free breathing of your baby

  • For suctioning snuffy baby noses
  • Simple, gentle and safe

When the little nose gets snuffy, the NUK Nasal Nasal Aspirator is a gentle method of removing nasal secretion from the sensitive baby nose. It is not uncommon for babies to have a cold and since they breathe almost exclusively through their nose during the first months of life, a blocked nose can quickly lead to problems. Especially at night and during feeding, a stuffy nose can be very stressful for an infant and in the worst case even lead to shortness of breath and thus to a reduced oxygen supply. The NUK Nasal Aspirator offers a hygienic and very easy way to remove mucus from the sensitive baby's nose without pain and quickly and effectively.

How the NUK Nasal Aspirator works
Our nasal aspirators are specially designed to gently and effectively aspirate your baby's nasal secretion. But how does the little helper work? The compression of the bellows creates a slight negative pressure so that the disturbing mucus in the nose can be sucked into the nasal aspirator when the patient slowly lets go. The cap should be attached to one of the nostrils, but not inserted to avoid injury. The other nostril can be closed for more effective removal. The application does not require any medication and helps your child to reduce the discomfort after only a few moments. The pressure and the speed at which the pump ball is released determine the suction strength of the NUK Nasal Aspirator.

The NUK Nasal Aspirator
Conventional rhinitis is the most common disease in young children and is often underestimated. The nasal cavities of babies are still very small and narrow, they clog faster than in adults.

Because babies cannot yet breathe through their mouths, a stuffy nose can cause the little ones to have trouble breathing. They then refuse to eat or have problems sleeping. In the first months of life, babies in particular breathe exclusively through the nose. The NUK Nasal Aspirator can provide a quick remedy, because by aspirating the secretion, the spread of pathogens is prevented and the risk of secondary diseases is reduced.

The best tips for using a nasal aspirator
In order to be able to use our NUK nasal aspirator for as long as possible, here are some tips for its use:

  • The baby should be in a stable position during use.
  • The baby should be in a stable position during use.
  • To calm the baby, the favorite teddy or a toy creates distraction.
  • The baby may need a moment to get used to the situation. This time should be given to him.
  • The NUK Nasal Aspirator should be washed with hot water or an antibacterial cleaning solution after each use. Simply remove the attachment / nozzle and rinse both parts carefully. For complete disinfection, simply use the NUK vaporizer or boil for approx. 5 minutes in a pot with sufficient water.
  • The NUK nasal aspirator comes with a spare nozzle. Please always use a clean, unused grommet for each application.
  • The use is not limited to a certain number of applications, the vacuum cleaner can be used whenever it seems necessary.

"Because this little life is  the greatest thing  in our lives."

NUK. Understand life.

NUK philosophy - understanding life

Understanding life - what does that mean? For us at NUK, this means keeping in close contact with experts who are important to the healthy development of a new life: midwives, doctors, nutritionists and, of course, you, the parents. The best ideas we look for from nature: It is, for example, a model for the typical shape of our pacifiers and teat, which resemble the mother's breast when breastfeeding.

Above all, understanding life means paying attention to the needs of the people most important to us: children. We explore their different stages of development at any age and adapt our NUK products accordingly. All NUK products build on each other - so you can always be sure to do the right thing for your child. From the beginning.

Children understand

Children understand

From birth to kindergarten.

They are just in the world trying to tell us what they need: babies. We want to understand from the first day of life, what these little people need:
A three-month-old baby has different needs than an eight-month-old child, who is currently fighting with the first little teeth. Only when we examine each stage of development and understand exactly, we can give babies and children the right thing at any time. Our products build on each other and grow with them - from birth to kindergarten age. The nicest thing about our work: with every child born, we learn from NUK. Since our company was founded in 1956, more than 50 million children have been born in Germany - and we are pleased that many of their parents have trusted and still trust in NUK products.

Understand parents

Understand parents

And everyday life suddenly becomes an adventure.

Children turn everything upside down. And new parents in front of a thousand new questions. We know that and want to help parents with their new task. With products that help children in their healthy development and make everyday life easier for mothers and fathers. With helpful services. And with downloads that provide worth knowing and entertaining information for you. On our advice and help pages, you'll find all the content sorted by life stages as well as expert interviews, where midwives, doctors and nutritionists answer frequently asked questions. Do you have a personal question or suggestion? Call us or write an e-mail! The contact details can be found on every page of the NUK website at the bottom.

Experts understand

Experts understand

Until all agree.

From the first idea to the finished NUK product, we take a lot of time:
How does  the idea become a perfect solution for babies and mothers? Midwives, paediatricians, dentists, nutritionists and, of course, parents know the needs of babies and children. We use their knowledge and experience to think about new products and services or to make existing ones even better. Our quality inspectors also ensure that NUK products come to the baby shelves with exactly the high quality that NUK has been standing for for 60 years.

Understand nature

Understand nature

The basis of the NUK brand.

The best tips and ideas in the development of our products gives us the nature. And let's take a closer look: For example, 60 years ago, we discovered that the breast of the breast perfectly adapts to the baby's mouth during breastfeeding - and develops the first asymmetrical teat after this model. It is shaped to fit the jaw, supports the development of the entire oral cavity and counteracts tooth and jaw malpositions. So suckers and pacifiers not only soothe babies, but also their parents.

Cleanliness and hygiene for children

Children muddy

Children love playing in the dirt, romping around in puddles or baking delicious sand cakes in the sandbox. Parents are less pleased when their little ones are completely dirty, from top to bottom. But how dangerous is it that children are exposed to dirt and debris while playing? In the past it was always "a lot helps a lot", but is that really true? A certain degree of cleanliness has to be natural, and excessive hygiene in the environment can make people ill.

Body care and hygiene for babies

Even in hospital, your child is already receiving the first care, namely cleaning after cutting the cord. Either the children's nurse will show you how to care for your navel properly or your midwife will show you how. There are several ways to keep your navel clean, so don't be confused if you get different advice. As a rule, the navel falls off within the first seven days after birth. If anything is wrong, contact your midwife or a pediatrician immediately.

What is to be considered basically with the care.

An infant, even if one might suspect this, does not have such poor defences, as it can still enjoy the so-called nest protection (protection of the child against pathogens by maternal antibodies) during the first three months of breastfeeding. During this time your baby is still well protected against harmless colds. Of course, a few things should still be taken into account, especially in the early stages:

  • only touch the baby with clean hands
  • Treat skin injuries carefully
  • Baby does not get near sick people
  • Ventilate the apartment/house often, as bacteria collect in warm rooms.
  • regularly change the baby's bed linen

Breastfeeding or bottle feeding, what hygiene should be observed?

The immune system of infants is not yet as strong as that of adults. They first have to get used to the germs, which means that the pathogen can settle in them more quickly.

If you are breast-feeding your child, you should make sure that you

  • a sterile pump set and a sterile milk container. The cleaning can be done either in the dishwasher, better is boiling the appliances and containers or the use of a sterilizer
  • wash your hands before pumping.

If you use bottled milk, make sure that youBath tub with baby blue

  • Rinse the bottle and teat hot after each meal, intended for this purpose: Bottle brushes.
  • Clean the grooves in the suction cup properly.
  • Cook the bottle and teat for five to ten minutes.
  • put the clean things on a clean cloth and cover them with one as well.

How often should the baby bathe?

Bathing every day does not have to be necessary and would also attack the protective coat of the skin too much, therefore daily washing and bathing once or twice a week is sufficient. Regular checking of skin wrinkles can prevent wound formation.

Ears, nose, nails & little teeth - how are they cared for?

Under no circumstances should a cotton swab be used to clean the ears of babies, as this may cause the swab to break or injure the eardrum. An alternative is to clean the auricle with either a damp or an oil-soaked cotton ball, otherwise the ears will clean themselves. :)

Under no circumstances should such a stick get into the baby's nose, but there is a special nasal aspirator to free the nose. Otherwise, as with the ears, the nose cleans itself by itself, such as by sneezing.

You should not cut your baby's fingernails in the first four weeks after birth, the toenails only after a few months.

Already the first tooth of your little one must be cleaned. You can start your dental care with a damp cotton ball or a lap. Once your child has three to four teeth, you can go and buy the first baby toothbrush. Make sure that no leftovers of food remain between the teeth.

How often should an infant be changed?

Many babies often have a sore bottom, which is sometimes due to the fact that baby skin is generally very thin and delicate. This makes them susceptible to bacteria and fungi, which particularly like to settle and multiply in warm/moist regions. If possible, you can also let your baby pedal naked, because fresh air prevents wounds and has a healing effect on a sore bottom. Certain foods also cause a sore bottom, pay attention to what your child has eaten. There should be a first reaction within the first 24 to 36 hours. And of course change the diapers after every bowel movement and otherwise about every three to four hours.
