Age Precision - Age-dependent setting
Clinical studies have shown that the definition of fever depends on the age of a child ** A temperature that is normal in a four-year-old can mean fever in a newborn. Many parents are not aware of this. Braun has developed the new Age Precision technology for age-dependent setting of fever limits so that the measured temperature value can be interpreted at first glance. This technology puts an end to guesswork and provides certainty with regard to the correct interpretation of the measured values.
Why is it advantageous to measure temperature in the ear with the Braun ThermoScan?
Braun's ThermoScan measures the infrared heat emitted by the eardrum and surrounding tissue. Since the eardrum is supplied by the same blood vessels as the temperature control centre in the brain, the ear precisely reflects the changes in the body's core temperature. The Braun ThermoScan has proven to be more accurate than rectal temperature measurement.*** The thermometer probe can also be used on newborns for safe temperature measurement because it does not need to be fully inserted into the ear canal for accurate measurement.
*** Measurements to determine temperature changes. Nimah, Marianne M., et al.: "Infrared tympanic thermometry in comparison with other temperature measurement techniques in febrile children." Paediatric Care Med 7.1: pp. 48-55. . .
Age Precision Technology
Age Precision is used for age-dependent setting of fever limits This technology allows you to select the age of the child (0-3 months, 3-36 months and 36 months to adulthood) and quickly and easily interpret the reading for that age using the color-coded backlit display.
Preheated probe tip and ExacTemp
The insertion of the measuring tip cools the measuring area in the ear, resulting in fluctuating measured values. The measuring tip of the ThermoScan 7, on the other hand, is preheated and thus ensures professional accuracy. Thanks to the pre-heated measuring tip, the thermometer makes measuring a more pleasant experience, especially for small children, and is suitable for measuring newborns.
nightlight
The Braun ThermoScan 7 is equipped with a large LCD display and night light, which makes it easy to read the temperature in the dark and reduces the risk of waking the child during the measurement.
Hygienic disposable protective caps
The protective caps are designed so that they can be easily exchanged between uses and do not require time-consuming cleaning of the probe. They're BPA and latex-free. Use a hygienic disposable protective cap for each measurement:
1) to enable hygienic measurement.
2) To protect your child from cross-contamination.
3) Ensure that cerumen residues do not affect the accuracy of the measurement.

Braun GmbH was founded in 1921 in Frankfurt am Main by Max Braun. The company is best known for its product design, which has made it a significant player in the history of industrial design and pioneered internationally. The Braun logo was developed in 1934 and is considered one of the initiators of valuable branding with high recognition value and connected with a consumer confidence in a trusted quality provider.
Braun AG was sold in 1967 to the US company The Gillette Company, which in turn was taken over in 2005 by the US group Procter & Gamble, to which Braun GmbH has belonged ever since.
The company has increasingly focused its business activities on personal care products and offers equipment for men's shaving, hair care and removal.
Designed to make a difference
Braun is a German premium brand for electrical appliances. Some think of design at Braun because of the groundbreaking product design by Dieter Rams and his successors. The others think of innovation and German technology: the introduction of the Plexiglas cover for turntables, the discovery of two-component injection molding or novel metal surfaces or plastic molds. Many simply appreciate the resilience of Braun products, known for their reliability, longevity and sustainability.
These are all true and significant aspects of the Braun brand. But Braun is more than that. Braun wants to go beyond design. That does not mean that design has no meaning for us anymore - it's more important today than ever. Going beyond design means considering design in the context of consumers' experiences.
Our goal is to make products with such details that make a difference in the lives of people who make consumers experience, which we call "Brown Moment". This idea summarizes our brand claim: "Designed to make a difference".
As an icon of industrial design, Braun's chief designer designed products according to 8 defined guidelines for excellent design:
- Good design is innovative
- Good design makes a product usable
- Good design is aesthetic
- Good design makes a product understandable
