Vitamin A supports the maintenance of normal vision - day and night
The eye is one of the most amazing organs of the human body and is challenged day and night. Working at the computer, watching television frequently, reading in poor lighting conditions or driving at night are particularly strenuous for our eyes - regardless of age.
Various factors play a role in the health, preservation of visual function, and vision of the eye during the day and night. This also includes a good supply of nutrients.
The capsules from Doppelherz contain vitamins A, C and E, valuable B vitamins and the trace elements zinc and copper.
In addition, 20 mg lutein, 1000 µg zeaxanthin and an extract of blueberry fruit are included.
- Vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of normal vision day and night.
- Zinc contributes to normal vision and supports normal vitamin A metabolism.
- Vitamin B6 contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system.
- Folic acid contributes to normal cell division.
- Vitamin B12 contributes to normal energy metabolism.
- Vitamin C + E and zinc + copper help protect cells from oxidative stress.
Lutein and zeaxanthin are found in plant foods (e.g. green vegetables). They are plant carotenoids that belong to the group of secondary plant compounds. The so-called "yellow spot" (macula) of the retina contains a high concentration of lutein and zeaxanthin. It is located in the center of the back of the eye.
The yellow color is due to the presence of these two carotenoids. The accumulation of the plant substances takes place exactly where a high antioxidant protection is needed. This is because sunlight falls almost uninterruptedly, especially in the area of the macula.
The "yellow spot" enables reading, recognition of fine details and differentiation of colors.
Blueberries are a popular berry for human nutrition. They were wildly collected and appreciated centuries ago in the forests and moors of Europe. Doppelherz Augen Extra capsules provide 50 mg of bilberry extract.

The company history of Queisser Pharma
The company Queisser Pharma can look back on more than 100 years of company history. Comprehensive knowledge about health has a long tradition here.
The history of Queisser Pharma begins in 1897 in a small pharmaceutical factory in Hamburg. The graduate pharmacist Alfred Queisser had come from Lusatia in the district of Dresden to Hamburg to make his fortune as a manufacturer. He focused on the production of health and care products such as creams, liquid soap and toothpaste. Despite difficult circumstances, Alfred Queisser managed to continuously expand the company. He owed this to his extensive talents as a businessman, scientist and imaginative advertising expert, whom he united in one person.
The second root of today's Queisser Pharma was created by the Essen pharmacist Josef Peter Hennes. In 1919, he developed the original formula of today's Doppelherz® energy tonic from herbs and other natural ingredients. The tonic was produced and successfully marketed in the eponymous company founded by him.
Both houses eventually merged into "Queisser Pharma", which has been part of HGDF Familienholding Ltd. since the end of the 1970s. & Co. KG, a long-established Flensburg family business, whose parent company was founded in 1738 in Flensburg.
Queisser Pharma today
Since 1987, Queisser Pharma has its headquarters in Flensburg in the former production areas of a Rumherstellung. In addition to other brand products from Queisser, about 1 million liters of Doppelherz energy tonic are produced, bottled, packed and shipped in line with the market.
Queisser Pharma is guided by tradition and at the same time modern - with much grown experience and specialist knowledge, modern and innovative health products are regularly created.
Demand for health products has been increasing for many decades. Our headquarters in Flensburg has therefore been continuously adapted and expanded to meet the steadily growing popularity. Here many of our products are manufactured, packed and shipped in modern production lines. From Flensburg the products reach all over Germany and all over the world. To date, we have grown to about 300 employees. This makes Queisser Pharma one of the biggest employers in the city of Flensburg.

The future of Queisser Pharma
The market for health is constantly changing. Health is becoming more and more important for every individual as well as for the social institutions.
The self-responsibility for the health increases as well as the consciousness to be able to influence the health and their continuance actively and independently. Increasing life expectancy and the rising share of older people are setting new trends and presenting the healthcare industry with new challenges. For a company involved in health products, there are great opportunities for the future.
Health awareness and demographic change
A modern medium-sized company like Queisser Pharma must actively change in this fast-paced world. A change that is characterized by major market changes, which are caused not least by the demographic development of the population structure in all countries of the world.
Never before have so many people become so old, while at the same time remaining so young, healthy and actively involved in social life. The proportion of over-60s to 100 people between the ages of 20 and 60 will almost double by 2030. In 2050, 78 out of 100 people will be over 60 years old.
Health care and personal responsibility
Life expectancy increases from generation to generation. Even today, the sixty-year-olds can look forward to more than 20 more years of life. With age, there is an interesting trend towards active health care, prophylaxis and personal responsibility. Clearly recognizable is the endeavor to provide your body with everything necessary to achieve a strong and active old age. People know that they can not leave their health today alone to the doctors. They have to take their health into their own hands and act on their own initiative and responsibility.

Eye Health
However, our eyes are not only the most beautiful sensory organ, but also the most sensitive. Protect and strengthen your eyesight - because good vision makes up a large part of our quality of life!
A healthy diet for the eyes
Around the age of 40, natural vision usually begins to decline, but we can support our eyes with the right lifestyle.
An "eye-conscious" diet combined with simple behaviors such as visiting your eye doctor regularly, wearing sunglasses to protect against UV rays, and not smoking are important basics for your eye health and preserving your vision.
But what is an "eye-conscious diet"? The
German Nutrition Society recommends eating "5 servings of fruit and vegetables a day" to meet your normal needs for vitamins and trace elements. The metabolism of the eyes also benefits, because our eye eats with us.
Various nutrients and protective substances are development aids for good vision, but they are also involved in maintaining vision into old age.
Nutrients and protective substances for the eyes:
Vitamin A | Maintains normal vision |
---|---|
Vitamin C | Cell protection (free radicals) |
Vitamin E | Cell protection (free radicals) |
Lutein | Component of the macula |
Zeaxanthin | Component of the macula |
Zinc | Maintains normal vision |
Selenium | Cell protection (free radical) |
DHA | Component of vision + tear film |
Probably the best known nutrient associated with eye health is vitamin A. Since vitamin A helps maintain normal vision, this has led to the name "eye vitamin". Vitamin A - the eye vitamin.
Good sources of vitamin A include offal such as liver, high-fat cheese, herring or mackerel, and eggs. Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, a precursor to vitamin A, and are often referred to as the food for good vision.
Special stresses such as working at a computer screen, watching television for long periods of time, exposure to strong sunlight, or frequent nighttime driving can increase vitamin A requirements.
Lutein + zeaxanthin - components of the macula
We owe high-contrast and sharp vision to the "yellow spot" (macula lutea), a small area in the retina. The yellow color is due to the increased presence of the plant pigments lutein and zeaxanthin . Since in the area of the yellow spot the sunlight falls in almost unbroken, nature has come up with a particularly high antioxidant protection through lutein and zeaxanthin.
The carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin are found in vegetables such as kale, asparagus, raw spinach and parsley.
Zinc, selenium + vitamin C + E - protective shield of the eyes
Our eyes are exposed to oxidative stress due to constant repetitive exposure to light and the visual process. This can lead to an increased formation of free radicals. In order to break down these, our body cells have a special protective shield: vitamins C and E as well as the trace elements selenium and zinc help to protect the cells from oxidative stress.
Citrus fruits, peppers or strawberries are well-known sources of vitamin C. Vitamin E is mainly found in vegetable oils. Selenium and zinc are largely ingested from animal foods such as fish and meat. Our tip: Enjoy oysters, they are the food richest in zinc!
Omega-3 fatty acids DHA - a component of the photoreceptor cells
Docosahexaenoic acid DHA, a polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acid, is particularly valuable for eye health. DHA is the most abundant fatty acid in the brain and photoreceptors. It is important for the structure of the retina and thus plays a role in maintaining normal vision.
DHA is not only present in the retina, but also in the fatty tear film. A healthy tear film ensures that the tear fluid does not evaporate and that the eyes remain well moistened.
Particularly good sources of omega-3 fatty acids are cold-water fish such as herring, mackerel or salmon.
Our eyesight is our most precious sense - support it from the beginning!
